ECO FRIENDLY ARCHITECTURE

Vlada Vasilyeva, interior design student, explains:

“We chose Riyadh, which is a fast-developing, modern city which pays great attention to eco-friendly technologies in design and architecture. Therefore, we created a triangular pavilion where you see the connection with a triangular green recycling symbol.”

KITCHEN HIGHLIGHT

“Moreover, Boffi celebrates its anniversary, so we placed the kitchen on the podium to highlight it. Thus, in the columns behind sliding doors, you can find a fridge and an oven. Also a microwave and a steamer. Furthermore, a big stone table right next to the kitchen gives clients an option to have meals watching a chef cooking.”

“Secondly, copper pots hung to the metal frame above represent beautiful accessories.  Also, cardboard tables and chairs bring our attention to the importance of using eco-friendly recycled materials. Moreover, they look stylish.”

ARABIC INSPIRATION

“As the bistro is planned to be located in the Arabic city, we subsequently created a special mashrabiya screen. In Arabic architecture, mashrabiya is a type of window enclosed with carved wood latticework located on the upper floors of a building. In fact, it’s useful to catch and passively cool the wind. For example, jars and basins of water were placed in it to cause evaporative cooling. Furthermore, our red mashrabiya screens divide the space, making dining more comfortable. For instance, the sunlight passes through the mashrabiya screens creating authentic patterns on the floor and walls.”
